Abstract

The emergence profile in dental implant rehabilitation is crucial because a correct and adequate design makes the implant-supported restoration more aesthetic and functional. This is achieved by correcting the anatomy of the alveolar ridge, resulting in a natural appearance by restoring an adequate amount of soft tissue, thus providing stability to the implant and better outcomes in peri-implant tissues. The aim of this study was to interpret through a literature review the importance of the emergence profile in dental implant rehabilitation and its long-term benefits for patients. A literature search was conducted on the topic "Importance of the Emergence Profile in Dental Implant Rehabilitation" in highly relevant electronic scientific databases such as Proquest, PubMed, Scielo, and ScienceDirect. It was evidenced that the emergence profile in dental implant rehabilitation ensures more aesthetic results and thus a better long-term response from the patient. A correct technique allows for better transfer of the subgingival contour morphology, reducing retentive areas that allow for plaque accumulation, thereby preventing periodontal tissue alterations. It is concluded that the emergence profile, by restoring functionality and patient well-being through a correct and personalized design, significantly improves their quality of life and makes wearing dental implants satisfactory.
