Abstract

Introduction: Anxiety can manifest itself in various forms, such as stress, insomnia, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating, which can negatively affect students' academic performance.
Objective: To describe anxiety in second semester dental students of UNIANDES.
Methods: This was a descriptive, prospective, observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional research study. Interviews and surveys were carried out with 40 university students to describe their anxiety.
Results: People who showed anxiety in the warning signs accepted to suffer from anxiety, but at the same time they have responded almost unanimously that they have not felt the support from UNIANDES, at the time of experiencing anxious episodes even assuring that they were not aware that there is a psychological department, in the same way they have given their reason to the reason that it would be a benefit to promote the activity of recognition and accompaniment of cases by the university for this type of cases.
Conclusions: It was demonstrated the need to promote the detection of anxiety cases, as well as their control and accompaniment, beyond having a psychology department. It is important that more research be conducted in this area to better understand the particularities of anxiety in university students and to develop effective interventions to help them manage their anxiety. Therefore, the authors of this study make several suggestions in this regard.
