Abstract

The present research was carried out in the Tufiño parish of the province of Carchi. This research had the objective of developing intervention strategies to determine risk factors for the use and management of agrochemicals in farmers of the Tufiño parish, using a mixed research modality of the quantitative and qualitative paradigms, using inductive-deductive, analytical-synthetic and systemic methods; Covering the different types of research, action, applied, descriptive, field, correlational and bibliographical research stands out; To obtain data, the survey technique was necessary, allowing the main results to be obtained to develop intervention strategies; The population where the research was applied was 109 farmers, obtaining the following results: 97 % male, 100% of the farmers surveyed are dedicated to growing potatoes as the most representative product of the Tulcán canton, 84 % of the farmers Respondents indicated that they manipulate agrochemicals weekly in their agricultural work. Only 5 % of the farmers surveyed indicated having received training on the safe use and handling of agrochemicals. These results contributed to proposing a proposal based on educational strategies to prevent complications in agriculture. Therefore, the importance of this research led to the identification of the problem, after the implementation of the proposal, which favored the strengthening of health.
