Abstract

Introduction: Psychosocial risk factors are those elements that can affect an individual's mental and emotional health, so they can have a significant impact on people's quality of life and well-being.
Objective: To describe the psychosocial risk factors in Ecuadorian health personnel with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods: The study population consisted of 35 health professionals from the Hospital Básico Baños, in Ecuador, whose psychosocial risk factors were measured before and during the COVID-19 pandemic using a survey developed by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Labour.
Results: As main findings, negative staff perceptions were recognised in relation to workload (57.1%); leadership (54.3%); recovery (54.2%); and support and support (51.4%).
Conclusions:
It is concluded that half of the dimensions of the survey on psychosocial risk factors elaborated by the Ministry of Labour of Ecuador, presented significant increase in exposure to psychosocial risk factors and that this negative impact affected competence building, leadership, communication, equity, violence and health perception in the surveyed population.
