Abstract

Objective: To analyze the predictive capacity of self-efficacy and resilience for life project among Peruvian adolescents.

Methods: A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted with 1,044 secondary school students from public educational institutions in Metropolitan Lima, selected through non-probability convenience sampling. Participants were aged 14 to 19 years, and 73.4% were female. The General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale, and the Life Project Assessment Scale were administered. Descriptive analyses, Spearman correlations, and ordinal logistic regression were performed. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05.

Results: High levels of life project (72.8%), resilience (55.4%), and self-efficacy (48.9%) predominated. Life project was positively correlated with resilience (rho = 0.474) and self-efficacy (rho = 0.400; p < 0.01). Self-efficacy (OR = 1.044; 95% CI: 1.010-1.080) and resilience (OR = 1.039; 95% CI: 1.029-1.049) were significant predictors of life project. The overall model showed a significant fit (χ² = 156.884; p < 0.001), met the parallel-lines assumption, and explained 19.2% of the variability, as indicated by Nagelkerke’s R².

Conclusions: Higher self-efficacy and resilience were associated with a greater likelihood of higher life-project levels among the adolescents evaluated.
