Abstract

Introduction: This systematic review assesses the effectiveness of biologic therapies in patients with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis. It examines the impact of these therapies on symptom reduction and quality of life improvement, using indices such as EASI, SCORAD, and DLQI.

Methods: Observational studies and controlled clinical trials comparing biologic therapies with conventional treatments were selected. These studies were peer-reviewed and published in the last five years, in either English or Spanish. The search strategy included key terms and Boolean operator combinations to ensure comprehensive and relevant literature coverage.

Results: The results indicated significant improvements in quality-of-life indices and clinical measures in patients treated with biologic therapies compared to those receiving conventional treatments. Improvements in symptoms, including the severity of itching and sleep disruptions, were highlighted.

Conclusions: Biologic therapies prove to be more effective than conventional treatments in managing moderate to severe atopic dermatitis, offering significant improvements in clinical parameters and quality of life. These findings support the inclusion of these therapies in standard treatment regimens, highlighting the importance of an integrated and evidence-based approach in disease management.
