Abstract

Endoscopic surgery in the digestive tract has revolutionized the management of various pathologies, offering a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgical techniques. The objective of the study was to analyze the benefits and limitations of endoscopic surgery in the digestive tract. An exhaustive search in PubMed of scientific articles published in the last three years was conducted, selecting 9 relevant studies. The results highlighted that endoscopic surgery minimizes surgical trauma, reduces postoperative morbidity, and accelerates patient recovery. Technological advancements, such as magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy and the sleeve for foreign body extraction, enhance the precision and safety of procedures. However, limitations were identified, including the lack of labeled data to improve lesion classification through convolutional neural networks and the need for multicenter studies to evaluate long-term impact. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the adaptability of health systems, maintaining the safety of endoscopic procedures in countries like Japan. In conclusion, endoscopic surgery in the digestive tract is a valuable tool in modern clinical practice, but it is crucial to continue improving technologies, developing better algorithms, and conducting long-term studies to optimize its application and clinical outcomes.
