Abstract

The role of the nursing professional is a set of actions for the care of life and health of people, health promotion, as well as disease prevention, so this research aimed to interpret the performance of nursing directed to older adults with urinary tract infections through systemic review, for which we used a methodology based on the qualitative approach, supported by bibliographic research, conducting data collection using the PRISMA methodology, with which specific criteria of the subject were established, which allowed the identification of effective interventions. The systematic review allowed the identification of effective nursing interventions for the management and prevention of urinary tract infections in older adults, including prevention strategies, care techniques and approaches to promote safe and effective care that contributes to reduce the incidence of infections and improve the quality of life of patients, so that the care suggested in the various articles for older adults with urinary tract infections includes an exhaustive evaluation of their symptoms and vital signs. It is concluded that, within its importance of specialized care, the research highlighted the relevance of having a specific nursing approach aimed at older adults with urinary tract infections, while the systematic review provides evidence that highlights the need for specialized care focused on the vulnerable population considering factors such as frailty and associated comorbidities.
