Abstract

Burns in children are a major public health challenge, with significant physical and psychological consequences. Children are particularly vulnerable due to their curiosity and lesser ability to protect themselves. Primary care plays a crucial role in the prevention, evaluation, and initial treatment of burns in children, with a focus on educating parents about safe practices at home.

Aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery offer options to treat the physical and aesthetic consequences of burns, improving the child's quality of life. In addition, the role of parents in monitoring treatment, preventing future injuries and providing emotional support for the child is highlighted. Training of primary care staff, development of burn management protocols, community prevention education, and intersectoral collaboration are recommended to improve pediatric burn care. In conclusion, a comprehensive and coordinated approach is essential to improve outcomes and quality of life for children affected by burns.
