Entrepreneurial Culture and Health-Oriented Biolearning among Nutrition Students at a Peruvian Public University

Authors

Abstract

Introduction: Nutrition training requires entrepreneurial competencies and contextualized learning processes that enable students to respond to real-life problems related to health, food, and community well-being.

Objective: To analyze the relationship between entrepreneurial culture and health-oriented biolearning among Nutrition students at a Peruvian public university.

Methods: A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational study was conducted with a census sample of 180 participants. We administered two structured Likert-type questionnaires; both were validated through expert judgment and showed adequate internal consistency (α = 0.82). Descriptive analysis included frequencies and percentages, whereas inferential analysis was performed using Kendall’s Tau-b, with statistical significance set at p < 0.05. Complementarily, a qualitative interpretation of the findings was conducted by designing semantic networks in ATLAS.ti, to identify conceptual relationships among the variables, their dimensions, and their formative implications.

Results: Entrepreneurial culture was predominantly at a moderate level (39.2%), followed by low (35.3%) and optimal (25.5%) levels. Health-oriented biolearning also showed a predominance of the moderate level (37.2%), followed by low (33.9%) and optimal (28.9%) levels. The two variables showed a positive, very strong, and statistically significant relationship (Tau-b = 0.957; p < 0.05). Likewise, entrepreneurial culture aligned with initiative, innovation, leadership, and social commitment, whereas biolearning was associated with the body, food, community, and resolving real health problems.

Conclusion: Entrepreneurial culture is significantly related to health-oriented biolearning, underscoring the need to strengthen educational strategies that integrate entrepreneurship and health-oriented biolearning.
