Abstract

Pulpal pathologies are inflammations of the dental pulp caused by harmful stimuli generated by bacterial agents corresponding to a coronary access pathway, including caries, dental anomalies and endontoperidontal lesions of the root canal. Root resorption is the loss of dental tissue as a result of odontoclastic action and by their location they can be classified as internal and external. The aim of the study was to analyze the different causes that produce these pathologies in orthodontic patients by means of a review of the literature. The methodology used was descriptive and was based on a systemic review of the bibliography of the PubMed database, in which 15 articles in English were analyzed. The results show that pulpal pathologies can be caused by various factors, including dental caries, trauma, excessive dental wear, previous dental treatments and systemic diseases. Furthermore, maintaining good oral health, practicing proper oral hygiene and seeing a dentist regularly, is fundamental to prevent these pathologies and preserve the health of the dental pulp. In conclusion, it was felt that each treatment should include proper hygiene and good oral habits, and that movements should be guided and no undue force should be used during treatment to avoid this type of orthodontic treatment-related disease.
