Abstract

Introduction: Tumor Necrosis Factor is an important cytokine within the stimulatory cascade of the immune system as well as in the proinflammatory response. Nuclear Factor Kappa Beta plays a role in cell survival and growth, controlling the immune and inflammatory response, the drawback is its hyperactivity related to the etiopathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.

Objective: The aim of the study was to interpret the relationship between tumor necrosis factors (TNF) and nuclear factor Kappa Beta in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases.

Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out in English and Spanish in PubMed, Medline, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases. The research question was: What is the relationship between TNFs and the Nf-Kb factor in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases?

Results: It was evidenced that the interaction between TNFs and Nf-Kb involves a cascade of inflammatory events that contribute to neuroinflammation and disease progression. Furthermore, that the study of Nf-Kb in the context of neurodegenerative diseases provides a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms and may open new therapeutic avenues to address these complex conditions. Tumor necrosis factors were interpreted to be a family of proteins that play a key role in regulating the immune system and inflammatory response.

Conclusions: It was concluded that there is a close relationship TNFs and Nf-Kb factor in the pathophysiopathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease.
