Abstract

Introduction: Dietary regimens have an impact on fundamental physiological parameters, which could result in more accurate and tailored suggestions for health promotion and disease prevention in the community.

Objective: The objective of the study was to demonstrate differences in the impact of three types of diets on blood glucose levels, lipid profile and blood pressure in patients at a clinic in Ecuador.

Methods: The study corresponded to the relational research level and was classified as prospective, experimental, analytical and longitudinal. The study sample consisted of 60 patients, of both genders and various ages, from a clinic located in Ecuador, distributed in three groups of 20 individuals each. The test statistic was Kruskal-Wallis.

Results: Since the p-value was not less than 0.05 in any of the three cases, the null hypothesis (H0) cannot be rejected. There is insufficient evidence to say that there is a statistically significant difference between the ratings of blood glucose levels (0.594), lipid profile (0.731) and blood pressure (0.757) in these three groups of diet types.

Conclusions: Based on the results obtained, it was confirmed that there was no statistically significant difference between the ratings of blood glucose levels, lipid profile and blood pressure in the three groups of diet types studied.
