Science and technology education in quality management for medical training

Abstract

Introduction. The advancement of science and technology generates a constant transformation in higher education, and particularly in medical training. Quality management in medical training becomes a crucial axis to face the challenges of contemporary healthcare systems. From an ethical, epistemological, and social perspective, it is necessary to implement rigorous quality standards that ensure an academic offering of excellence that is equitable, relevant, and humanistic. Objective: To reflect on the importance of adequate quality management in medical training based on the state of science, technology, and innovation in higher education institutions. Methods: Theoretical methods were used, including documentary analysis, systematization, and logical history, which facilitated the contrast and positioning of ideas linked to aspects related to the object of study.

Development. For the author, the traits that distinguish medical professionals are due to the ethical approach to the health needs of the population under their care, as well as to advances in science, technology, and innovation, whose fundamental element is quality training.

Conclusion. Medical education must foster the lifelong development and practice of values that ensure the impact of its graduates on the health, well-being, and quality of life of the population. The challenge facing medical programs is maintaining a quality offering that ensures the training of good doctors who are good doctors.
