Transdisciplinary algorithm for the diagnosis of human Mixoploids in the Medical Genetics Network of Camagüey.

Abstract

Introduction: The mosaicism of ploidies in humans is a low-prevalence event that evidences a varied clinical spectrum. To distinguish the in vivo or in vitro tissue origin of these during the analytical phase of the cytogenetic study, to establish the diagnosis of human Myxoploid, is a complex task.

Objective: To implement a transdisciplinary algorithm for the diagnosis of human Mixoploids in the Medical Genetics Network of Camagüey.

Methods: Using a qualitative–quantitative methodology, the diagnostic algorithm was designed, comprising two blocks of actions: the first is supported by a descriptive cross-sectional study that defines the criteria for identifying the clinical phenotype of myxoploidy in humans in the Medical Genetics Network of Camagüey. The second corresponds to the evidence from the cytogenetics laboratory. The results of the chromosomal studies were issued in the official model established by the National Medical Genetics Network.

Results: Soft technology for the diagnosis of human Myxoploids, structured from an algorithm for the identification of clinical phenotypes and cell culture procedures.

Conclusions: To develop a diagnostic algorithm that provides actions to systematize and contextualize the diagnosis of this chromosomal aberration within the Medical Genetics Network of Camagüey, benefiting affected subjects, relatives, and care professionals.
