Abstract

Gingival recession is described as the apical displacement of the free gingival margin, exposing the root surface to the oral environment, which can affect the aesthetic zone and its function, sometimes causing dental sensitivity. The objective of the present study was to interpret, through a literature review, the report of a clinical case of root coverage using the surgical technique of lateral displaced flap and subepithelial connective tissue graft. A literature review was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Scielo, and Elsevier, with specific translated keywords, in order to find studies with strong scientific support relevant to the topic of this case report. The patient showed a positive outcome, achieving complete coverage of the gingival recession. It is concluded that the technique of lateral displaced flap and subepithelial connective tissue graft represents an alternative and offers successful outcomes in treatment, provided the procedure is performed adequately.
