Stress and anxiety during hospital internships in 3-7 level nursing students

Abstract

This work highlights the need to investigate the levels of stress and anxiety in 3-7 level nursing students during hospital internships. The study sample is made up of 121 students from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes “Uniandes”. The results revealed a significant percentage of students with high stress and anxiety during the practices. High levels of stress and anxiety in nursing students have relevant implications that extend beyond the university context. The results are useful for analysis in the university environment and as a guide to plan new innovative strategies. Objective: Analyze the levels of stress and anxiety in students in the 3-7th semester of the nursing career in hospital practices at the Regional Autonomous University of the Andes “Uniandes” methods: Descriptive observational. Conclusion: hospital practices in nursing students are very important for their professional training and facing stress and anxiety every day is a challenge that they must overcome so that their future as future nursing professional’s health is not affected. In this way, it is important that strategies be designed and measures implemented to reduce the risk of developing stress in hospital practices in order to avoid consequences on the emotional well-being and mental health of students that affect their academic performance.
