Abstract

Polycystic ovary syndrome is a disease that affects women worldwide, generating varied symptoms, such as mental problems, specifically depression.

Therefore, it is considered to determine the impact of depression in women who have polycystic ovary syndrome.

A bibliographic review was carried out using relevant databases such as: PubMed, Scopus, Scielo, Google Scholar. A total of 15 scientific articles published between 2019-2023 were examined.

Depression was considered the most frequent psychological illness in women suffering from PCOS and this was related to clinical symptoms such as: obesity, infertility and problems in the menstrual cycle that are difficult changes for women to face.

PCOS has been studied pathophysiologically, but the psychological impact on women is unknown, so knowledge in this field must be expanded.
