Abstract

The primary health care program emphasizes the need to focus the actions of specialists in family and community medicine on the content of Burnology, in order to guide modifications in lifestyle and enhance the commitment and responsibility of citizens towards personal and collective health. Several initiatives are recognized under this condition; however, there is still work to be done in improving the training of specialists in family and community medicine. This research aimed to identify the learning needs related to Burnology among Ecuadorian specialists in family and community medicine. The methodology followed a quantitative approach, with a field design and descriptive scope. The empirical methods used included document analysis, surveys, semi-structured interviews, and questionnaires. The study population consisted of 50 primary health care physicians from the health centers in the province of Loja, and the sample comprised 20 family physicians working in the health centers of the province of Loja. The results showed that there are limitations in the training of specialists in family and community medicine, which restricts the effectiveness of primary health care concerning Burnology content.
