Abstract

Tissue engineering is an interdisciplinary discipline that aims to synthesize knowledge of cell biology, biomaterials, and relevant biochemical factors in order to develop substitute structures that guide and promote the regeneration of new tissues. The objective of the study was to interpret the current evidence on the effectiveness of 3D printed nanoporous hydroxyapatite bone grafts for the preservation of the alveolar ridge through a literature review. A systematic review was conducted using the PRISMA 2020 methodology, examining MEDLINE, LILACS, and Elsevier databases to identify relevant studies focused on bone regeneration and 3D printing techniques. The results indicate that 3D printed nanoporous hydroxyapatite is not only effective in preserving the alveolar ridge but also promotes osteogenesis in a manner comparable to or superior to traditional bone grafts, such as autogenous and allogeneic grafts. Additionally, the biological adaptability of these biomaterials was highlighted, allowing the use of advanced techniques to enhance the customization and efficacy of treatment in patients, reflecting a significant advancement in the field of tissue engineering and implantology. In conclusion, 3D printed nanoporous hydroxyapatite grafts represent a promising advancement in biomaterial technology for reconstructive and regenerative dentistry. Their ability to biologically integrate and facilitate bone regeneration establishes a new standard in the preservation of the alveolar ridge, offering new possibilities for more effective and personalized treatments in dental clinical practice.
